New flame retardant requirements strict textile companies must be cautious

From January 26 this year, importers or U.S. manufacturers must provide flame retardance for some products. Standard General Certificate of Conformity (GCCS), products include vinyl plastic film, carpets and mats, and non-children's clothing textiles. Failure to provide a certificate of compliance, or issuing a false certificate of compliance may result in civil penalties of up to $100,000, and may even result in criminal penalties and forfeiture of property.

It is understood that carpets, garments and other textiles caused by the number of fire and death rate is much higher than other products, so the international demand for textile fire performance is also increasing, flame retardant technical regulations have gradually become an important national technical trade measures component. The United States, Europe, Japan and other countries and regions all specify the flammability standards of fabrics. To this end, the Shishi Inspection and Quarantine Department reminded the exporting companies that they must pay great attention. The first is to pay attention to the laws, regulations, and standards of the importing country on related products. Second, while focusing on the appearance quality of the products, it should also focus on safety and sanitation items; the third is on the quality of some products that cannot be judged from the appearance. Based on the facts, do not blindly believe the supplier's verbal commitment.
