How to classify artificially cultivated pearls
Artificially cultured pearls are first cleaned and sorted by grade before being sold to dealers. Pearls are certified according to five criteria. They are volume, shape, color, skin light and purity. Volume: The size of a pearl is calculated by its shortest diameter. The size of a typical pearl varies from eight millimeters to fourteen millimeters, or even sixteen millimeters. More than 18 millimeters is rare. So far, the largest pearl in the record is 21 mm in diameter. Shape: The round pearl is recognized as the most beautiful pearl, and is eager for it. Round pearls are extremely rare, but other shapes of pearls are also unique. Color: The gray and black pearls artificially cultured in Tahiti have various radiances under the refraction of light. The most appreciated are malachite green, rich purple, sea blue and various shades of gray and iridescent. According to traditional aesthetics, people with skin whites are suitable for wearing grey pearls, while those with darker skin are more suitable for wearing black pearls; of course, other factors such as eyes, hair, and the color of the clothes to be worn should be considered. Pi Guang: The so-called leather light of the pearl refers to its appearance, whether its appearance is smooth and illuminating, and whether the light source can reflect a charming color, which is the standard for measuring the light. The luster of Tahiti pearls is like a mirror. It can reflect people's reflection when looking directly, and it has the color of reflected light, especially glittering and gorgeous. Purity: Like other types of pearls, the value of Tahiti's pearls is determined by the quality of the skin. Identifying the pearl epidermis depends on how many flaws it has, such as dents, scratches, and black spots that reduce its value. Grade category: The pearl skin that is rated as "excellent quality" is excellent in light, and the round shape is symmetrical. The size and color are not considered as the main factors. Pearls rated as the most "commercial quality", regardless of size or color, refer to pearls that have a medium gloss and have some irregular surfaces. Pearls with organic stains, or multiple flaws, or insufficient nacres, have no commercial value. Value: The value of a pearl depends on the shape of the variety, whether the color and size are rare. As a general rule, large and fine black pearls are the most expensive when they are equal, as it is the rarest.
